BACCHANAL BOYS

FLHow did bacchanal boys come about & how many people are apart of it?

BB: The Bacchanal Boys brand was established December 2018 by Josh “Prezzi” Cumberbatch with the intentions of being a source of entertainment and vibe starter to a fete or carnival from a male perspective, using unique strategies and dancing maneuvers to capture party goers attention and keep them focused on the vibes we bring. There 7 members apart of the brand.

FL: What do you think makes ah Bess fete?

BB: Good Vibes and No Behavior makes ah bess fete. Have every intention on freeing your mind from all the stressors in your life and don’t be afraid socialize while taking a whine in a judge free environment.

FL: We saw your Trinidad fete list, which fetes are you looking forward to the most and with so many fetes happening how do you narrow down your list?

BB: We are looking forward to AM Bush, Punchy Punch, TRIBE Ignite, Jetty Jam and Jouvert Morning. We narrowed down the list based on what suits the Bacchanal Boys based on our behavior. All pump, pace, dutty and wotless vibes.

FL: Give us five tips to help out a FETE’IN/Carnival newbie!

BB: Wake up and get to Carnival EARLY! So you can beat traffic, park and get to your band before they get on the road.

Wear comfortable shoes for carnival. You will be walking for long distances.

Stay hydrated! Drinks lots of water while consuming alcohol on the road or at a fete.

If you are wotless and you don’t want to loss your costume accessories, take pictures with your backpack and big accessories at home, and then leave them at home.

Don’t be afraid to fete with a stranger. You may meet your new best friend/fete partner on the road or at a party.

FL: As carnival continues to grow, what suggestions do you have to sustain the longevity of carnival.

BB:My suggestions in regards of sustaining longevity of carnival is to continue shedding light and awareness of the smaller islands and their contributions to the culture, continue to embrace the love for carnival from people who may not be West Indian or of Caribbean descent as long as there is a genuine love for the culture and for the people to celebrate carnival with integrity and not for clout. Don’t free up yourself just for the love of likes on social media, do it for the love of Soca.

FL: All’yuh have real energy the whole fete, what do you do to prepare yourself for heavy FETE’IN?

BB: We fete every weekend to prepare ourselves for key fetes so we can perform to our best ability for big events……and we drink a lot of rum.

FL: What 5  songs are in heavy rotation this season for bacchanal boys?

BB: Kes – Boss Lady , Patrice Roberts – Carry On , Machel Montano – Everytime , Shal Marshall – Hot Gyal Soca , Mr. Killa – Soca Defender

FL: With your carnival Influence, how do you plan to help push the culture forward?

BB: To help push the culture forward, the goal is to open up the doors for fete teams/crews who party and travel to party as a unit and transform the idea of a fete crew for fun into a legitimate brand/business, creating a revenue stream and a lane for fete teams/crews as entertainment acts on the Soca scene.
